Sports Betting Ontario: Best Betting Sites 2026

By Malcolm Trudel · Updated September 1, 2026 · 19+

Ontario runs Canada's only open, regulated sports-betting market — and offshore books still take Ontario bettors alongside it. This page explains how iGaming Ontario works, then ranks our offshore lineup on NHL and CFL depth, Interac payouts and CAD offers. These are offshore books, not iGO-registered ones.

How Sports Betting Works in Ontario

Ontario is the exception in Canada. Since April 2022 it has run an open, regulated online gambling market — the first of its kind in the country — overseen by iGaming Ontario in partnership with the Alcohol and Gaming Commission of Ontario (AGCO). Operators that register with iGaming Ontario are legally regulated in the province, held to advertising, responsible-gambling and player-protection standards. The well-known regulated sportsbooks include theScore Bet, BetMGM, FanDuel and DraftKings.

To be straight about our lineup: the books we rank on this page are offshore, not registered with iGaming Ontario. They are licensed in Curaçao, Anjouan, Malta or Panama and accept Ontario bettors, which is legal to do. But they operate outside the iGO framework — so we are not presenting them as iGO-registered, and you should weigh that when you choose. If regulated player protection is your priority, the iGO market is there. If you are choosing an offshore book, judge it on odds, Canadian-sports depth, Interac support and payout speed, and complete your KYC early.

Single-Game Betting in Ontario

Ontario's regulated launch was made possible by federal Bill C-218, which legalised single-game sports betting in August 2021. Before that, the only legal option was Pro-Line-style parlays of two or more games. Now you can back a single outcome — the Maple Leafs to beat the Senators, say — at both the regulated and offshore books. That change is the reason Ontario's market grew as fast as it did.

Ontario Sports Coverage: Hockey First

Hockey (NHL) — Leafs, Sens and the Stanley Cup

Hockey is the sport Ontario bets most. The province has two NHL teams — the Toronto Maple Leafs and Ottawa Senators — and Leafs games in particular drive enormous local handle, spiking further through the Stanley Cup playoffs. A book worth using in Ontario prices hockey deeply: moneyline, puck line and totals, plus period betting, shots on goal, player-point props and same-game parlays. Live betting matters most here — a tight Leafs game generates huge in-play volume, so responsive pricing and a fast interface separate a good book from a frustrating one. Check the futures too: Stanley Cup outrights, division winners, and player-award props all draw money.

CFL & the Grey Cup

Ontario's CFL clubs — the Toronto Argonauts, Hamilton Tiger-Cats and Ottawa Redblacks — give the province three teams to follow, and CFL betting is where offshore lists often outshine generic coverage. Look for full-slate spreads, totals and quarterback and receiver props, not just Grey Cup week.

MLB — the Toronto Blue Jays

The Blue Jays play in Toronto and carry Ontario's baseball handle. Beyond moneyline and run line, look for first-five-innings markets, strikeout props and inning-by-inning live betting — baseball's pace makes it ideal for in-play.

NBA — the Toronto Raptors

The Raptors, based in Toronto, made basketball a mainstream bet in Ontario after their 2019 title. Player props, quarter and half lines and same-game parlays are the popular markets, and the NBA rewards live betting given how quickly momentum swings.

MLS — Toronto FC

Toronto FC gives Ontario an MLS club, and soccer betting keeps climbing. Match result, both-teams-to-score, totals and player props are standard, and a good book carries the Canadian Championship and Canada's national-team fixtures alongside the European leagues.

Payments: Interac Leads in Ontario

Interac e-Transfer is the default banking method for Ontario bettors. It moves money bank-to-bank across nearly every Canadian bank and credit union, deposits are effectively instant, and withdrawals typically land 1 to 24 hours after the book approves them. The wait is the book's review queue, not Interac — so payout speed measures how quickly a sportsbook processes cashouts.

Every offshore book runs KYC — ID plus proof of address — before your first withdrawal. Upload documents right after signing up so your first payout is not held for verification.

Welcome Offers, in Real CAD Terms

Ontario offers come in two shapes, and the maths beats the headline. Confirm live terms on the operator's site — figures move constantly.

A "C$100 bonus at 6× wagering" means C$600 to wager before winnings convert to cash. Over a season, a book with sharper everyday odds and no rollover usually beats a one-time bonus. Remember: winnings are tax-free for recreational Ontario bettors.

Trust & Safety

Ontario bettors have a real choice that most provinces do not: a regulated iGaming Ontario market with strong player protection, or offshore books with different odds and bonuses. If you use an offshore book, carry more of the diligence yourself — confirm the licence is real, read the withdrawal terms for maximum-cashout caps, complete KYC upfront, and test a small deposit and payout before trusting a book with a full bankroll. If a sportsbook hides its terms or drags a verified withdrawal past a week, walk away.
